About Captain Laura Lee
When you explore the Everglades with me, you will discover why I am known far and wide as "the legendary, not yet famous" Captain Laura Lee . My passion for this wilderness area is limitless, and contagious! I am a U.S.C.G licensed Captain, CPR & First Aid certified, and U. of F. certified Naturalist, specializing in coastal estuarine habitat, and I absolutely love guiding here.
Part of the lore that is woven into that "legendary" status is the belief that the Gulf of Mexico is my mother, and the back waters and bays in the Everglades are my sisters and brothers, and the Rocky Mountains are my father. Interesting geography! More than a few of the amazing folks that I've been privileged to guide here in the heart of the Everglades believe me to be the inspiration for a fictional character immortalized in one of Florida's favorite authors' best selling novels. I neither confirm nor deny those rumors and allegations. I'm just a guide who happens to love what I do and do what I love!
Chokoloskee, Florida is my home. I live and guide here from November 15th thru May 15th every year, then spend the 'hurricane season' hiking and kayaking the wilderness areas of the Continental Divide in Montana, Wyoming, and Canada.
My mission with You and a Kayak : Give you the opportunity to personally experience the Everglades, one of the last true wilderness areas left on earth.
